Le malizie di Venere

Directed By: Massimo Dallamano, Paolo Heusch

Nudometer:

In 1969 Massimo Dallamano directed Venus im Pelz (Venere in pelliccia aka Venus in Fur), an Italian-Swiss-German production based on a novel by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. In Italy, the film is blocked by censorship. The director made cuts and re-released the film in 1973 under the title Venere nuda, but again failed to win censorship approval. In 1975 the production decided to try again and called director Paul Heusch to shoot scenes from scratch. The male lead and Renate Kasché return to the set, many nude scenes are cut, and the plot is completely turned around. The film finally gets approval and is released in Italy under the title Le malizie di Venere (there is a reference in the title to the film Malizia, which had made Laura Antonelli famous a couple of years earlier).
The film tells the story of Xavier, a man in prison for murder. Xavier is accused, along with his wife Wanda (Laura Antonelli), of murdering Bruno, a motorcyclist who had intruded into their daily lives. Xavier blames himself, but the jury believes he’s covering for someone. In the film, we witness the events that led Xavier to jail. The whole plot and ending are completely different from the original film.
Many nude scenes in this film are the same as in Venere in pelliccia, of course, and we refer you to the review of that film. Other scenes are edited differently or have different coloring. In addition, there are some short extra scenes made by Renate Kasché.
At the beginning of the film, the protagonist is dreaming about some events involving Laura Antonelli in the nude. We saw them in the original film, but here there is an unseen cut. Later, the camera lingers on Laura’s feet and legs as she sits by the lake. After a sequence with Laura Antonelli in a bikini, we see a scene involving Josil Raquel, Laura Antonelli, and Renate Kasché. This is also a sequence from the original film, but it has been re-edited in a totally different way.
