The film recounts the artistic – and sentimental – vicissitudes of playwright Giovan Battista Andreini, who lived in the first half of the 17th century. We follow him during the writing, rehearsals and the first performance of the comedy entitled Amor nello specchio (Love in the Mirror). His wife Virgina (Anna Galiena) and the young actress Lidia (Simona Cavallari) act in the play. The love the two actresses feel for each other in fiction soon becomes real.
Before the opening credits Simona Cavallari topless looks into the camera and sings. Twenty-five minutes later, the actress gives us a full-frontal nude, lying on the bed completely naked. We see Simona Cavallari naked again twenty-two minutes later, in a long sex scene. A man is lying down and she rides him passionately. In the next scene Anna Galiena is naked and lying on a piece of stage furniture while a painter portrays her. Twelve minutes later, in a brief sequence Anna Galiena lifts her skirt and shows her pussy to a man. Three minutes later, Alessandra Borgia acts on stage wearing a transparent white top. Eleven minutes later, a highly anticipated scene: Anna Galiena and Simona Cavallari first kiss, then have sex, in a particularly intriguing lesbian sequence. Just before the end of the film we see Alessandra Borgia again in her transparent top.
